Dr Mirko Cuderman – recipient of the Prešeren Foundation Grand Award for lifetime achievement

We are glad and proud that among the recipients of the Prešeren Foundation Award for 2022 is also our former artistic director and honorary member of the Slovenski oktet, theologian, musicologist and conductor Dr Mirko Cuderman.

We began working with Dr Cuderman in early 2000, when at our request he accepted the artistic direction of the Slovenski oktet. Our first joint performance under his leadership was prepared for the presentation of the Prešeren Awards at Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana. Together we shaped the ensemble’s new sound and presented ourselves with great success at the anniversary concert marking the 50th anniversary of the octet.
We are glad that the award has finally reached the hands of a great artist who has dedicated his life’s mission to music.
He lived and gave of himself for music.

Doctor, God grant you many more years!
