Farewell to honorary artistic director Darijan Božič

We have said farewell to the former artistic director and honorary member of the Slovenski oktet, maestro Darijan Božič (29 April 1933 – 24 October 2018).

He led the Slovenski oktet from 1972 to 1974.

During his years with the octet he wrote a good number of compositions for it, which the octet performed with great success at its concerts. He renewed his collaboration with the octet in the last decade, when he wrote two song cycles for us – VERZI IN MISLI ŠTIRIH, to texts by Dane Zajc, Gregor Strniša, Milan Jesih and Pavle Oblak, and GOSPA, to a text by Neža Maurer.

Maestro Božič was sincerely attached to our musical journey. We will remember the moments when he followed, content, the creation of his works at our rehearsals, as well as our chats on Streliška Street, where we would meet and talk during his walks with his beloved pets.
